FIRST LAUNCH
Know what Windows may show you.
The playtest can include a Windows security prompt on first launch. Verify the official package before overriding any warning.
SmartScreen may show an unknown publisher warning.
The current Windows playtest is not Authenticode-signed with a trusted publisher certificate. If Windows shows Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, first confirm you downloaded the ZIP from pythesystem.com and verify its SHA-256.
- Extract the ZIP.
- Open
TheSystem.exe. - If SmartScreen appears, choose More info and only use Run anyway after the official hash matches.

Your progress lives separately from the application.
Player saves, scripts, workspaces, settings, backups, and logs are stored separately from the packaged application. Updates do not intentionally replace that player data.
THE SYSTEM does not silently replace its own executable. New builds use the official browser download path.
